*Joe DiRienzo has studied music since his childhood with formal instruction on percussion, upright bass, mandolin, piano, and has a degree in music on classical guitar.
*Joe started playing in bars at age 14 and was in the studio recording his own music at age 16 .
*After high school he spent time touring with bands throughout the North East and after college moved to New York City where he played in the metal band Fearless Leader.
*After diving into the NYC hardcore scene he moved to Boston where he played with the Johnny Barns Band. JBB was Boston radio station: WBCNs "Homegrown Band of the Year" and was managed by Pretty Polly Productions.
*Joe started the Born Again Savages with his cousins John Thomas and Illin' in an attempt to form an art, grundge ensemble that pressed the envelope of current pop music.
*Mixing abstract expressionism with futurism, putting dissimilar things together using the theory less is more and conspicuous excess; Joe has created a style that is beyond the homogeneous, commercial blandness of todays corporate rock.
As the industry increasingly shuts out musics regional flavor, alternative choices and diversity, I feel its important the Savages fight against it. Joe DiRienzo
